Brian E. Lawyer, CPA, grew up in North Texas and began his public accounting career in 2005 at a national firm headquartered in Texas. In 2012, he transitioned to the Big 4, dedicating five years to EY’s Dallas office. Brian took a hiatus from public accounting to serve as the controller for a Dallas real estate company valued at over $6 billion before returning to public accounting to lead MRM’s assurance practice.

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 2007, his expertise spans assurance (audit and attestation), technical accounting (GAAP and SEC), financial reporting, fair value, and complex transactions. Brian’s industry experience encompasses real estate, healthcare, manufacturing/distribution, not-for-profit, and employee benefit plans. His enthusiasm lies in mentoring young professionals and fostering robust, diverse teams while enjoying the technical facets of being a CPA.

Outside the office

Family is at the heart of his existence, with two spirited boys actively engaged in football and wakeboarding, complemented by the loyal presence of an 85-pound Cane Corso dog and unwavering support from his beautiful wife.

In 2022, he finished his first Ironman race, a testament to his resilience. He is also a member of the Dallas Pistol Club and enjoys competitive shooting. In addition to his active pursuits, Brian finds fulfillment in contributing to his community through involvement in his local church’s recovery group.
